In Step One, we saw Attorney Michael Howe’s frustration with the endless cycle of steno fatigue, and in Step Two, his daughter, Attorney Amy Howe, suggested a tech-based, remote deposition service called Readback to address the pains of steno fatigue. In Step Three, Mr. Howe decided to open his mind to new ideas, and joined a live demo of Readback’s Active Reporting service. He learned about Readback’s proprietary Multi-Intelligence Service Team (MIST), and about the benefits of Active Reporting, including access to the rough transcript text in Near Time (a delay of just seconds) during the proceeding using the Readback Viewer, certified deposition transcripts in one day, and low, flat rates. Attorney Howe’s hesitation has quickly become excitement to try this revolutionary new service. In Step Four below, he experiences his first Readback deposition.

After scheduling easily via the Readback Portal, the proceeding begins. The Readback Guardian swears in the witness and handles showing exhibits, like Exhibit A, a video of the deponent mopping the floor at work. Someone has spilled something, and the floor is very wet. The video shows the deponent partially mop up the spill, then exit the still-wet area, leaving nothing behind. Watch below to see Attorney Howe use his quick thinking and the Readback Viewer to catch the deponent perjuring himself.
